A number of private motor vehicle owners along Thika highway were forced to turn after facing hostility from members of the public following the ongoing fuel strike.
A spot check by the Star showed that a section of the highway was barricaded by stones and tyres to stop the motorists from operating.
A government vehicle was also forced to make a turn, following the barricades with angry members of the public describing those in operation as traitors.
Most matatu operators packed their vehicles in protest of the high fuel costs.
