Controversial Kenyan preacher Prophet Victor Kanyari has announced plans to assist his church follower, Marion Naipei, after she publicly confessed to a severe struggle with alcohol addiction.
Speaking during a service at his Salvation Healing Ministry church in Njiru, Nairobi, the preacher revealed that external well-wishers have already stepped in to facilitate her recovery.
According to Kanyari, a family based in the United States of America reached out to his ministry after witnessing Naipei's viral struggles. The family has pledged financial and logistical backing to ensure the content creator receives professional medical help.
Pledge for Rehabilitation
During his address to the congregation, Kanyari explained that the US-based family expressed a strong desire to sponsor Naipei’s transition into a professional recovery facility. The preacher expressed his willingness to oversee the process, noting that the final decision rests with the content creator.
"They said they want to take Marion to a rehabilitation centre because she said she has a problem with drinking alcohol," Kanyari stated.
The preacher further promised that if Naipei agrees to seek treatment, he will personally secure her long-term accommodation. He committed to paying her house rent for up to one year to give her a stable environment upon her discharge.
A Pattern of Ongoing Support
The announcement follows a series of public outbursts and confessions from Naipei, who recently shocked internet users by admitting she squandered a KSh 100,000 business grant given to her by the preacher on alcohol.
Despite the setback, Kanyari emphasized that his ministry would not abandon her.
He disclosed that he continues to support her financially, revealing that he instructed his secretary to send her KSh 10,000 just a day prior to the service because he knew she was in dire need.
"I love Marion and I will always support Marion. I will not let her be embarrassed," the preacher told his congregation.
Acknowledging Personal Weaknesses
In an emotional segment of his sermon, Kanyari urged the public and his church members to extend grace to individuals battling addiction. He argued that everyone carries unique flaws and that vulnerability should be met with communal support rather than condemnation.
To emphasize his point, Kanyari noted that even he possesses weaknesses that others might find difficult to tolerate if exposed closely. He stressed the importance of standing by individuals during their darkest moments.
"Let's stand with the people who have problems and weaknesses. Even me, I have my own weaknesses," Kanyari admitted.
The intersection of digital fame and substance abuse remains a prominent issue within Kenya's creator economy. Industry data suggests that a significant number of young influencers struggle with mental health challenges and addiction under the pressure of public scrutiny.
