Kinangop MP Zack Thuku is mourning the death of his father, whom he described as his mentor, teacher and role model.
In a tribute shared on Sunday, the legislator said his father played a significant role in shaping his values, leadership and faith.
“When my soul is overwhelmed, I will hide under the Rock that is higher than I,” Thuku said.
“This wonderful soul; my loving Dad, my instructor, disciplinarian, my first preacher and teacher, my mentor and role model.”
The MP praised his father for instilling in him humility, respect, courage and the fear of God.
“You taught me humility, respect and the fear of the Lord. You taught me courage and what leadership is and what it is not,” he said.
Thuku added that although his father had departed from the physical world, his lessons and sacrifices would remain with him forever.
“Dad, you have departed the physical realm, gone to live eternally with your maker whom you served. I will forever be grateful for the sacrifice, the love and the lessons I benefited from you, Dad. Go well, it is well,” he said.
Condolence messages from leaders and supporters continued to stream in following the announcement.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan said: "My deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to my colleague, Hon.Zac Kwenya Thuku-MP Kinangop and his entire family following the passing of their beloved patriarch.
"The loss of a father is an immeasurable tragedy to any family, as he remains a pillar of guidance, wisdom, and strength. May the Almighty grant Hon. Kwenya, the entire family, his constituents and the people of Murang'a comfort, fortitude and peace during this difficult moment of grief and mourning."
