The Football Kenya Federation Referees Committee, working jointly with the Instructors’ Technical Group, has taken disciplinary action against three match officials following a review of recent SportPesa League fixtures.
In a statement, FKF said the decision was reached during a virtual meeting held on April 30, 2026, after the committee assessed match footage, referees’ assessor reports, match commissioners’ observations and technical evaluations of officiating performances.
“Following the review, the officials were found not to have met the required standards expected at SportPesa League level,” FKF said.
According to the statement, the committee raised concerns over areas including decision-making, application of the Laws of the Game, match management, concentration, teamwork and coordination among match officials.
As a result, FKF said one of the officials has been suspended for three match rounds and demoted to the FKF National Super League pending further technical assessment.
The other two officials have each been suspended for two match rounds and also demoted to the FKF National Super League.
FKF said the affected officials will remain under close monitoring and continuous evaluation by match commissioners, assessors and instructors. Their future appointments and possible return to top-tier matches will depend on demonstrated improvement and subsequent technical reviews.
The federation said it remains committed to maintaining high officiating standards, accountability and continuous capacity development for match officials across all competitions.
