ODM leader Oburu Odinga spotted playing golf/SCREENGRABODM leader Oburu Odinga has resurfaced after days of speculation over his whereabouts, sharing videos of himself enjoying a golf session in Kisumu.
Oburu posted photos and clips on his Facebook page on Friday, appearing relaxed and cheerful as he spent time on the golf course with friends.
In one of the videos, the veteran politician is seen carefully positioning himself before taking a swing at the golf ball using a golf club.
“Shot ya Pawaaa!” he captioned the video.
The post appeared to directly address growing speculation on social media after Oburu had not been seen publicly for several days, prompting questions about his whereabouts.
In a separate video, the ODM stalwart assured his followers that he was safe and enjoying his time in Kisumu.
“On your concerns about my whereabouts, I’m here in Kisumu playing golf and want to wish you a happy weekend,” he said.
His response comes hours after ODM member Kasmuel McOure addressed supporters over the matter, assuring them that the veteran politician was healthy and in good condition.
Speaking during a youth press briefing at Chungwa House in Nairobi, Kasmuel said they had spoken with Oburu earlier in the day and dismissed speculation circulating online following his recent absence from public political events.
“We know Oburu is well. We have spoken with him this morning. We know he has the best interest for us,” Kasmuel said.
Oburu was last seen publicly on April 20 during the ODM Youth League Convention held at Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi.
His absence from several recent party activities had triggered speculation among supporters and political observers, with some online users questioning his whereabouts.
During the Friday briefing, Kasmuel also criticised individuals he accused of disrespecting the ODM leader and other senior party officials.
He accused some political figures of insulting Oburu and attacking ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga.
“As a party, we will not walk with tribalists,” he said.
“Just recently, they were calling our party leader a coward. The constant attacks on the person and leadership of our national chairperson, Gladys Wanga, must stop."
He further condemned what he termed as tribal political attacks directed at ODM-allied leaders.
Kasmuel said ODM youth members had launched a nationwide mobilisation drive aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future political realignments and elections.
“As young people in ODM, we are taking this party forward. We started in Nairobi, and we will traverse the entire country with the message of strengthening ODM,” he said.
