Four people have been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after multiple shots were fired from a vehicle in Brixton, south London, in the early hours of Saturday.
One man, 25, is in a life-threatening condition, while three others, aged 21, 47 and 70, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the Met Police said.
Officers arrived at the scene on Coldharbour Lane within minutes following reports of the shooting, at about 01:15 BST.
No arrests have been made, and police are continuing to investigate.
'Indiscriminate violence'
The London Ambulance Service said: "We treated four patients at the scene. We took two of them to a major trauma centre and the other two patients to a local hospital."
Police conducted searches near Southwyk House, Coldharbour Lane, on Saturday afternoon and a section of the road remained cordoned off, with closures likely to remain until Sunday morning.
Det Ch Insp Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, called the shooting an "act of indiscriminate violence".
"We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible."
The police have asked for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, and said there would be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
