What began as a missing person case has ended in a major breakthrough after police arrested the prime suspect in the murder of 11-year-old Glorious Kaiza Maore.

The girl was reported missing on March 15, 2026, after she failed to return home from Sunday school practice.

Her disappearance sparked concern among family members and the local community, before turning into a grim investigation.

Days later, a disturbing discovery was made in the Manyani area when children playing nearby came across a sack with a human hand protruding from it.

Police were alerted and responded to the scene. Upon inspection, officers found the lifeless body of the minor inside the sack.

The body had been bound with a rope, pointing to what investigators described as a calculated attempt to conceal the crime.

A postmortem conducted at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital confirmed the extent of the brutality. According to investigators, the examination revealed that the child had been defiled before being strangled to death.

Detectives from Kisauni launched investigations immediately, piecing together leads that eventually identified the prime suspect. However, by the time officers moved in, the suspect had already fled.

At his residence, detectives recovered partially burnt clothes and bedding, believed to have been an attempt to destroy evidence linked to the crime.

A manhunt was launched, culminating in the suspect’s arrest on April 12, 2026.

Authorities described the arrest as a major step forward in the pursuit of justice for the young victim.

The suspect was later arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts under a miscellaneous application.

Detectives sought custodial orders to allow them to complete investigations.

On April 13, 2026, the court granted a 21-day custodial order to enable forensic analysis and allow investigators to strengthen their case ahead of prosecution.

Police said the suspect is a Tanzanian national who operates locally as a garbage collector without formal identification. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

The case is scheduled for mention on May 4, 2026, as authorities work towards concluding the probe.
