Traffic flow along the Nairobi Southern Bypass (Ole Sereni-bound) has been restored, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced.
KeNHA said normal movement resumed after a disruption caused by a road accident that occurred on April 24.
“Normal movement has now resumed along this section of the highway after the disruption, with vehicles once again able to travel freely,” the authority said.
The agency, however, urged motorists to remain cautious as traffic conditions stabilise and normal flow returns along the affected corridor and surrounding sections. It advised road users to observe traffic signs and follow instructions from police officers deployed on site.
KeNHA acknowledged the cooperation of motorists during the emergency response period when traffic was disrupted on the busy stretch.
Earlier on April 24, KeNHA temporarily closed the affected section between Thogoto and Dagoretti interchanges near Karinde to allow for clearance operations following a morning crash.
In the initial advisory, motorists were warned to expect delays and advised to use alternative routes. “The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify motorists that the Nairobi Southern Bypass (Ole Sereni bound), between Thogoto and Dagoretti interchanges near Karinde, has been temporarily closed following a road traffic accident earlier this morning,” the notice said.
Motorists heading to the city were advised to use the Kikuyu–Mutuini–Dagoretti road (C63) to avoid congestion. The agency also urged drivers to cooperate with traffic marshals and enforcement officers as clearance operations continued.
KeNHA said it worked around the clock to restore normal traffic flow and ensure safety for road users.
