
Police are investigating the killing of a 70-year-old man in Mulutu, Kitui County.
Detectives handling the case said the decomposed body of Luka Ilupe was discovered along a path within the compound where he was employed.
According to police, a rope was found tied around his neck, and he also had visible neck injuries suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp object.
The motive behind the incident has not yet been established. Police indicated that the deceased worked for an academician who is currently out of the country.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending further procedures.
In a separate incident in Nyandarua County, police are also investigating the killing of a man in Gillet Village, Wanjohi Sub-County.
Authorities said the case was reported on April 19, 2026, at around 9:00 am, after the body of Samuel Kamau Ndegwa, 44, was found lying along a roadside.
The deceased was found unclothed and lying in a pool of blood, with visible severe head injuries and facial swelling.
Police believe he may have been attacked by unknown assailants, although the motive has not been established.
The body was taken to J.M Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, in Kilifi County, police in Ganze Sub-County have launched investigations following the killing of a herdsman whose body was found in a bush near Shuria Quarry.
The incident was reported on April 19, 2026, at about 8:30 am.
The deceased, identified as Kelvin Chiriba Charo, 49, worked as a herder in the Mayowe area. His cousin, Florence Mwangiri, reported him missing after he failed to return home on April 18 after taking cattle out to graze.
The livestock later returned unattended and caused damage to crops in the area, raising concern and prompting a search.
His body was discovered the following morning in a bush near the quarry. Police said he had sustained multiple deep cuts on the head, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.
The motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made so far.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) processed the scene, and the body was moved to Kilifi County Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
In another incident in Vihiga County, police in Mudete are investigating the death of a woman whose body was recovered from River Isava.
The matter was reported on April 18 after the body of Mary Kavere Ambani, 52, was found lodged on a log in the river.
It is suspected she may have drowned while crossing a wooden bridge in the area, following heavy rains that caused the river to swell.
Police visited the scene and retrieved the body, which was moved to the mortuary for preservation and further procedures.
Cases of suspected murder and unexplained deaths continue to be reported across different parts of the country, even as investigations into each incident proceed.
