
Detectives are pursuing a suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man following a dispute reportedly involving a woman in Endebess Subcounty, Trans Nzoia county.
The incident, reported on the night of April 17, 2026, occurred in Scheme Moto Village, Chepkoilel Location, police said.
According to police, the victim, identified as Charles Kaitano, was rushed to hospital with a stab wound to the left side of the chest but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Kaitano had been at a neighbour’s compound in the company of the suspect when an argument broke out between them over a woman.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed Kaitano in the chest, inflicting a deep wound that led to excessive bleeding.
Police officers visited and processed the scene, documenting evidence as part of ongoing investigations.
The body of the deceased was moved to Cherangany Nursing Home mortuary, where it is awaiting post-mortem examination.
The suspect reportedly fled immediately after the incident and remains at large. Police have launched a manhunt and are appealing for information that may lead to his arrest.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, police said on Sunday.
In a different incident, police in Nyando Subcounty, Kisumu county, have launched investigations into the killing of an 18-year-old student following a violent altercation in Awasi.
The incident was reported in the early hours of Saturday, April 18, 2026.
According to police, the victim, identified as Brian Odhiambo, a Form Three student at Pala Secondary School, was grazing sheep in Pala Village on the evening of April 17 when the incident occurred.
It is reported that a motorcycle rider accidentally hit and killed one of the sheep along the road, sparking a confrontation between the two.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly assaulted the student using a wooden rungu, striking him on the forehead and leaving him seriously injured.
Odhiambo was rushed to Port Florence Hospital in Awasi for treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries while receiving care.
Police officers visited and processed the scene, where the suspected murder weapon was recovered.
The body of the deceased was moved to Othoo Mortuary, where it awaits post-mortem examination.
The suspect is said to have fled after the incident, and police have launched a manhunt as investigations continue.
Murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend.
Police say most of the cases are pending in courts. Most of the incidents are linked to land disputes, love triangles and deals gone wrong.
