
Police are investigating a murder incident in Mutuati, Meru County, following the killing of a 49-year-old man.
Police said the incident occurred after an altercation between the deceased and another man over sharing of meat.
According to police, the body of Isaiha Ntokusiana was found lying in a pool of blood on a farm on April 14.
Police who visited the scene established that the deceased had sustained deep cuts on the back of his shoulder and left hand, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident may have been triggered by a disagreement between the deceased and the suspect over the sharing of meat.
Police said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack, escaping with the alleged murder weapon. A manhunt has since been launched to apprehend him. The body was moved to the mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
In a separate incident in Kericho County, police have launched investigations into a suspected murder following the death of a young man who succumbed to injuries sustained during a fight in Soin Sub-County.
Police said the incident was reported on April 14, adding that the victim, identified only as Kiplangat, was involved in a fight with another man known to him at Kipsitet Trading Centre.
The cause of the altercation remains unclear.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
Police say the suspect is on the run, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In Kiambu County, police are also investigating an incident in which a 42-year-old man was found dead in the Matangi area, Juja Sub-County.
The body of Samuel Thoko Maina was discovered on April 14 on the pavement of an incomplete building adjacent to a bar, after a cleaner reported the matter upon arriving at the premises.
Police officers who visited the scene confirmed the incident. The body was found lying in a supine position and had no visible injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was homeless and had reportedly been unwell for some time. Records further show he had sought treatment at Ruiru Sub-County Hospital on April 11, police said on Thursday.
The body was moved to General Kago Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
