Stevo Simple Boy, the rapper who rose from the streets of Kibera to national stardom, is finally clearing the air. In a candid phone interview with Mpasho journalist Moses Sagwe, the artist addressed the swirling rumours regarding his management and his high-profile breakup with his partner, Brenda.
Setting the Management Record Straight
Following his exit from his previous management, many fans speculated that Brenda had stepped in to steer his career. There were concerns that the lines between his personal and professional life had blurred.

However, Stevo was quick to dismiss these claims.
He confirmed that Brenda never held a professional role in his music business. He clarified that he has always maintained a separate professional structure for his work.
“No, I have a manager, she was not the one managing my music,” Stevo stated firmly.
This clarification comes after a history of management disputes for the rapper. Stevo’s career has been marked by several public fallouts with previous handlers, most notably his departure from the Machabe management team.
Fans had worried that he might be repeating past mistakes by involving a romantic partner in his financial affairs.
The Breakup Mystery
The rapper’s relationship with Brenda was a frequent topic on social media. Their sudden split left many followers looking for answers. When asked directly about what led to the end of the relationship, Stevo remained guarded.
He did not provide specific details about the cause of the split.

Instead, he hinted that the situation is more complex than it appears to the public.

“That’s a very long story I can’t say it for now. So, you guys just stay alert, when the time is right, I will make everything clear,” he explained.
Politics or Performance?
Beyond his romantic life, Stevo also addressed rumours regarding his political future. There had been whispers that the rapper intended to stand for office in the 2027 general elections.
Stevo put those rumours to rest. He admitted that his previous comments about running for office were merely for show.
“No, I will not be vying, it was just mbwembwe,” he said, using the Swahili term for showmanship or clout.
A Career Built on Resilience
Born and raised in Kibera, Nairobi’s largest slum, Stevo gained fame with his hit song "Mihadarati," which warned youth against drug abuse.
He has often spoken about the challenges of being an independent artist from a humble background.
His journey has been a mix of viral success and public struggles with contracts.
