Renowned Kenyan music producer Magix Enga has shared a harrowing account of his long struggle with alcohol. This personal revelation comes just weeks after he celebrated a quiet civil wedding in Nakuru.
Taking to social media, the man known as the "Beat King" described his past lifestyle as a period of intense torture.

The Struggle with Addiction
In a candid Facebook post shared on 7 April, Enga admitted that alcohol has caused him more pain than anything else over the years. He told his followers that he has now completely walked away from that life.
The producer even issued a firm request to his former drinking associates. He asked that if they met, they should not even greet him, as he seeks to maintain his distance from his previous habits.
“Nothing has tortured me for all these years like alcohol. If you’re a drinker, or we used to drink together, please… when we meet, don’t even greet me. I’ve completely walked away from that life,” he stated.
Enga revealed that he almost lost his life to drink. He explained that he originally used alcohol as a way to manage stress, unaware of the damage it was doing.
He is now using his platform to warn others. He urged young men to stay in church and avoid bad company to prevent losing everything.
“This time, I refuse to let the devil win. I’m choosing God first Pombe imeniharibia life sana I almost died nikithani ni stress napunguza.”
A Hit-Maker’s Darker Days
Magix Enga is one of East Africa’s most successful producers. He is responsible for over 200 mainstream hits, including popular tracks likeDundaing and Watoto na Pombe. Despite this professional success, his personal life has been marked by public battles with drug addiction and financial instability.

In late 2023 and throughout 2024, Enga made headlines when he sought help for his mental health.
At one point, he famously shaved off his signature blonde-tinted dreadlocks.
This was intended as a visual symbol of his transformation and a move toward a "tired soul" finding "strong faith".
A New Chapter in Nakuru
This spiritual shift appears to have culminated in his recent marriage. On 28 March 2026, Enga officially married his American partner, Jojo. The couple chose a modest civil ceremony at the Nakuru Matrimonial Department.
The wedding was a private affair, intentionally avoiding the media circus that often follows Kenyan celebrities. Enga wore a sharp, cream-white blazer for the occasion, while Jojo wore a textured, white, feathered gown.
The producer credits both his faith and the support of his wife for his ongoing recovery. He describes Jojo as his "Queen" and says God is the reason he is still standing today.
“Stay in church young men and avoid bad company ama utapoteza kila kitu,” he advised.
