
Tragedy struck a family in Muungano area, Machakos County, after a seven-year-old boy died after falling into a septic tank. Police said the boy fell into an incomplete septic tank that contained water and was uncovered on Sunday. He drowned before his body was retrieved and taken to the mortuary, police said. The incident, which police classified as an accident, is under investigation. The death has left the family of the Grade Two pupil devastated. Elsewhere in Mwingi, Kitui County, one Ann Ndinda Kyalo, 25, was found dead after drowning in a dam. Her shoes and clothes were first discovered on the banks of the dam, prompting residents to search the water. Her body was later retrieved by a team of divers from the Kitui County government. The family informed police that the deceased had been battling mental illness and suffered from bipolar disorder. The body was moved to the mortuary, awaiting postmortem examination. In Bokoli, Webuye West Sub-County, Bungoma County, a family is mourning after the body of a 14-year-old boy who had been reported missing was discovered under suspicious circumstances. The incident was reported at Bokoli Police Station on Sunday. Police said the motive of the suspected murder has not yet been established. According to police, the boy’s mother said her son, a Grade Three pupil, went missing on Friday, April 10, 2026. Efforts to trace him were unsuccessful. On Sunday at about 8:30 a.m., a neighbour alerted the mother after discovering a body lying along a pathway near her home. The mother went to the scene and identified the body as that of her son. Police officers visited and processed the scene. The body was found with blood oozing from the mouth, a visible injury on the forehead, and a swollen neck, raising suspicion of foul play. The body was moved to Webuye County Hospital mortuary, where it awaits postmortem examination to establish the cause of death. Investigations into the suspected murder are ongoing. Elsewhere, police in Kakamega South Sub-County are investigating a fatal incident that occurred during a memorial ceremony in Makata Village. According to a report filed at Eregi Police Station on April 12, 2026, the deceased, identified as 32-year-old Patrick Muhatia, had hosted a memorial gathering at his homestead the previous night. At around 12:30 a.m., a confrontation broke out between two attendees, resulting in Muhatia sustaining fatal injuries. Police visited the scene and found the body lying with visible injuries to the forehead and mouth. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was allegedly attacked by a resident of Makata Village in Kaluni Sub-location, Shikumu Location. The suspect is said to have used a piece of firewood during the assault. The scene was processed and documented, and the body was moved to Mbale Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination. Police confirmed that the suspect was later arrested at his home, where he was found asleep, and is currently in custody as investigations continue.
