Detectives are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a young man was discovered dumped in a roadside trench along Kikuyu Road in Dagoretti Subcounty, Nairobi county.

Police officers on patrol made the grim discovery near Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School on Sunday dawn.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known, Nairobi police commander Issa Mohamud said.

Police visited the scene and identified the deceased as Livingston Njura, 21.

The body was found lying face down in a trench on the right side of the road. Preliminary examination revealed multiple injuries, including wounds on the rear right waistline, thighs, buttocks, and right hand.

Notably, no blood stains were observed at the scene, raising suspicions that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the location.

An iPhone was recovered from the victim’s pocket and is expected to aid investigators in tracing his last movements and possible suspects.

Crime scene personnel documented the area before the body was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify those responsible.

And police n Kakamega county are pursuing a suspect linked to the fatal assault of a 40-year-old man following a dispute over a Sh200 debt.

According to police, the incident occurred in Shikutse area within Kabras West Subcounty on Saturday. 

Police officers who visited the scene at Mukongolo village found the lifeless body of David Sakwa lying inside his house with multiple injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had sustained deep wounds on the back and left arm, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

Family members told police that the deceased had been involved in a violent confrontation with his cousin on the evening of April 10 at around 6:30 pm.

The dispute reportedly stemmed from a Sh200 debt.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly attacked the deceased with a panga, leaving him with serious injuries. He succumbed to the injuries the following morning at around 10 am.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

Police processed and documented the scene before moving the body to the Kakamega Orthopedic Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect as investigations into the incident continue.
