Kenya Railways announces senior management jobs

Kenya Railways has announced multiple career opportunities, inviting qualified and experienced candidates to apply.

The state corporation said the vacancies target professionals capable of supporting its mandate to deliver a safe, reliable and sustainable rail network.

The roles span critical departments including safety, passenger services, operations, engineering, finance and risk management.

Among the advertised positions are ail safety manager, passenger services manager, sales and marketing manager, QMS and risk coordination manager, signalling, electrical and communication manager, technical audit manager, stores and inventory manager, train operations manager, and accounts manager.

All positions are in grade RG3, with each role offering one vacancy. Some positions have been re-advertised, while others are newly introduced.

Kenya Railways said applicants must submit a signed application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, and a copy of a national identification document or passport.

Shortlisted candidates will also be required to present Chapter Six clearance documents, including a certificate of good conduct, tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority, clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board, a report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau and clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The corporation said it is an equal opportunity employer and encouraged applications from women, persons with disabilities, and marginalised groups.

Applicants have been warned against fraudsters, with Kenya Railways reiterating that it does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications exclusively through the official job portal on the Kenya Railways website, indicating the position and reference number in the subject heading.

The deadline for applications is April 28 at 5.00 pm. Kenya Railways indicated that only Kenyan citizens are eligible to apply.

The state corporation, which falls under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, was established in 1978 under the Kenya Railways Corporation Act (Cap 397).

Kenya Railways currently manages a railway system that consists of a single-track main line running from the coastal city of Mombasa to the border town of Malaba.

In its renewed outlook, the corporation says its core mandate is to provide efficient and effective rail and inland waterways transport services, while supporting the broader national development agenda.

The agency has also reiterated its long-term vision of becoming a provider of world-class rail services, anchored on safety, reliability and sustainability.

As part of its mission, Kenya Railways seeks to upgrade and develop an integrated rail network capable of meeting growing demand for passenger and freight transport.

Key focus areas include building technical capacity within the railway sector, improving service delivery, leveraging existing assets to grow revenue streams, and facilitating the development of both national and metropolitan rail networks.
