
A junior police officer was found dead in his house at Lokamarinyang police post in Kibish, Turkana County.
Constable Harrison Rhobi was supposed to be at work on April 9 when he was found unresponsive in his house. He lived alone, colleagues said.
His colleagues said he had delayed to wake up, prompting them to go and check on him. They then found his body on the bed unresponsive.
The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Authorities say there are efforts being made to improve the working conditions of the police in general.
In Wanguru, Mwea, Kirinyaga County, a 12-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a school.
The boy was among those undergoing swimming sessions when he drowned on April 9 evening, police said.
He was rushed to hospital where he died while being attended to. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In another incident, a 47-year-old man was found dead in a water-filled quarry in Ndhiwa Sub-county, Homa Bay County.
The body of Peter Ogola Orwa was discovered on Thursday morning at Ngere Village in Wachara Sub-location, North Kabuai Location, after being spotted partially submerged in water.
Police officers visited the scene and confirmed the incident. Members of the public, with the help of police, retrieved the body.
The deceased was identified by his wife, who said he had left their home in Rege Village, Nyatike Sub-county, on April 8, 2026, at around 6:00am, heading to Homa Bay, but never returned.
Preliminary observations indicated that the body had no visible injuries.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Ndhiwa Sub-county Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination. Police have launched investigations into the incident.
Elsewhere in Rubiru, Murang’a County, a man drowned in Matunda stream.
Police said the body of James Warui Kariuki, 75, who had been suffering from a stroke, was found in the water.
The deceased is said to have been walking along the stream when he slipped and drowned.
The body, which had no visible injuries, was moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
