The Kenya Pipeline Company

The Kenya Pipeline Company has appointed its General Manager for Finance, Mr Pius Mwendwa, to temporarily discharge the duties of Managing Director following recent developments involving the current office holder, Joe Sang.

In a statement dated April 3, the company’s Board of Directors said it had taken note of “ongoing reports and developments affecting the Managing Director, Joe Sang and others.”

The interim appointment comes as Sang is among officials assisting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in an investigation into alleged financial irregularities linked to claims of substandard fuel imports in the energy sector.

The Board said it is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with relevant institutions to understand the nature and scope of the allegations.

To ensure continuity of operations, the Board confirmed that Mwendwa will discharge the responsibilities of the Managing Director in the interim period.
