Health CS Aden Duale alongside his Transport counterpart Davis Chirchir/PCSHealth Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and his Transport counterpart Davis Chirchir have made a series of appointments and re-appointments to key government boards and regulatory bodies.
The appointments target institutions in the health sector and the transport authority.
In a gazette notice dated March 27, 2026, CS Duale announced several appointments to the boards of national referral hospitals and health regulatory agencies for a period of three years.
At the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Riyak Ahmed Mohamed and Dr. Zablon Mokua were appointed as members of the Board of Directors, effective Friday, March 27, 2026.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 7 (1) (g) of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Order, 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Health appoints— Riyak Ahmed Mohamed, Zablon Mokua (Dr.), to be Members of the Board of Directors of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, for a period of three (3) years," reads the notice.
The CS also made changes at the Kenyatta National Hospital Board, where Catherine Kathure Samwel was re-appointed as a member for another three-year term.
Nazim Jiwa Mitha and David Kipchirchir Rotich were also appointed to join the board for the same duration.
In the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya, Godana Sora was appointed as the non-executive chairperson, alongside Hilda Cheserem, Washington Atho Waindi, Anjali Bajali, Harrison Gicheru and Dr. Wallace Karuguti as members.
Further changes were announced at the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council, where Dr. Tonnie Mulli was appointed as a member.
Moses Kiptanui, Prof. Marion Mutugi, and Rose Jepchumba Kosgey were re-appointed to continue serving on the council for three years.
At the Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital, Dr. David Muthaka Ichere was appointed as a board member, while Bernard Kaparo was re-appointed to the board for a similar term.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 46 (1) (a) of the Health Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Health re-appoints— Amit Thakker (DR.) as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Health Professionals Oversight Authority, for a period of three (3) years," further reads the notice.
The notice adds that Wilfred Oguta, Margaret Mbugua and Ahmed Diis Mohamed have been appointed as members of the board.
The authority is tasked with overseeing and coordinating health professional regulation and standards in the country.
In the Counsellors and Psychologists Board, Dr. Salma Sheilla Kwamboka was appointed non-executive chairperson, alongside Anne Syokau Mutua, Elecah Muthoni, Japhet Ouru Ogwangi and Dr. Obadia Kipkurui Yator as board members.
Appointments were also made to the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board, where Solomon Kariuki, Stanley King’e, Nancy Jebungei Bowen, Joel Stephen Mukaya, Dr. Josephine Nyabeta Rioki, Damaris Katsutsu and Hashim Musa Haji were named as members.
Hadija Bisharo, Warda Mohamed, Kennedy Kuria and Safari Kalu Kithi were re-appointed to the same board.
Additionally, Dr. Lyndah Kemunto Manoti was appointed to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board for a three-year term.
In a separate gazette notice, Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir appointed Peter Kibe Maina and Kenneth Limo Toroitich as members of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority for a three-year term.
All appointments and re-appointments take effect from March 27, 2026, and are in line with the respective legal provisions governing the institutions.
