Geoffrey Nyantika during the Nyanza region term one games at Maseno School/ANGWENYI GICHANAGeoffrey Nyantika is the new Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association (NRSSSA) secretary.
Nyantika takes over from Tom Odhiambo, who exits the association after he was elected Homa Bay Kenya Union of Post-Primary Teachers (KUPPET) executive secretary.
Nyantika, a teacher at Kiong’ongi Secondary, served as Odhiambo’s assistant. He also served as the secretary of the Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association.
He will serve in the position until 2028, when the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games will be held. Nyantika also serves as the Kisii County KUPPET deputy executive secretary.
Milkah Matiku, the new Kisumu County secretary, will deputise Nyantika.
Matiku took over from her boss, George Osura, who was elected the Kisumu County KUPPET executive secretary.
Nyantika leaves the Kisii County office alongside his assistant, Simeon Ongaga.
Ongaga, an experienced football referee, was elected as the Kisii County KUPPET organising secretary during the recent union elections.
In Kisii, Kevin Mosoti takes over from Nyantika as the new secretary, while Evans Orora is the new assistant secretary.
Mosoti served as Masaba South sub county secretary, while Orora held the same position in Etago sub county.
Mosoti was elected during elections held at the Kisii County director’s office on Monday, where he beat his challenger, Evans Siro of Kisii Central.
Orora, a teacher at Maroo Esinde, was elected unopposed.
Ongaga said: “We decided to step down from the positions at the county level to allow others to grow. I will, however, remain a member of KSSSA.”
Nyantika’s first task in office will be to oversee the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) to be held in Kisumu from April 5 to 11 as the host regional secretary.
