The Enterprise Cup cross-border quarterfinals take centre stage this Saturday, with action split between Nakuru and Kampala as top sides battle for semifinal slots.

Defending champions Kabras Sugar RFC and KCB RFC travel to the Ugandan capital for tricky away fixtures against Heathens Rugby Club and Black Pirates Rugby Club, respectively.

Back in Nakuru, Menengai Oilers host Toyota Buffaloes, while Nondescripts RFC take on Kobs Rugby Club at Nakuru Athletic Club. KCB head into their clash buoyed by strong domestic form, having thrashed Blak Blad 60-7 in the quarters and capped their Kenya Cup campaign with a 57-17 win over Daystar Falcons.

However, assistant coach Jacob Ojee has warned against complacency. “We are coming off a strong performance against Daystar Falcons, and that gives us confidence, but knockout rugby is a different challenge.

Pirates are a quality side, especially at home, and we are not underestimating the threat they pose. We have prepared well, and the boys understand what is at stake,” said Ojee.

KCB will, however, be without several key figures, including head coach Andrew Amonde and a host of players who are away on national duty at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

In their absence, the spotlight shifts to Miheso Eric, Andy Cole Omolo, Tyson Maina, Emmanuel Silungi, Brian Wahinya, Elvis Olukusi and Jenkins Kipruto to step up.

Meanwhile, Kabras will be chasing a 52-match unbeaten run when they face Heathens in what promises to be a stern test away from home. Head coach Carlos Katywa expects a physical contest.

“It will be tough playing in their backyard. We have the momentum from the Kenya Cup, and the boys are relishing the battle,” he said.

In Nakuru, Oilers will look to capitalise on home advantage as they push for a semifinal berth, while Nondies aim to keep their campaign alive against a seasoned Kobs side.

The winners will advance to the semifinals scheduled for April 11, with the final set for May 9, as the race for regional rugby supremacy gathers pace.
