A SECOND-TERM LAWMAKER is reportedly making an all-out effort to block a popular rival from contesting in the 2027 polls. Insiders say the lawmaker, reportedly fearful of losing his seat, is allegedly using his influence to deny the challenger a place on the ballot. It is understood he has held meetings with officials from an investigative agency in a bid to supposedly implicate the rival over alleged forged academic certificates. However, preliminary findings by the agency point to a different scenario, forcing the MP back to the drawing board.

 A FIRST-TERM COUNTY chief has rattled lawmakers following claims he allegedly used demeaning language against them. The row erupted after the county chief supposedly referred to the legislators as “a bunch of hungry people”, potentially exposing the lawmakers as abetting graft. The county boss purportedly dismissed the lawmaker’s threats of unspecified consequences, adding that he does not fear them. In response, the aggrieved lawmakers accused the governor of going rogue, vowing to rein in what they termed his ‘growing arrogance’.
