The Israeli military has issued an update, saying it's launched a new wave of strikes at Beirut in Lebanon. It says it's targeting infrastructure that belongs to Iran-backed Hezbollah in the south of the Lebanese capital.
Meanwhile, US Central Command says US forces have "eliminated" 16 Iranian mine-laying ships, after President Trump warned Iran not to "put out any mines" in the Strait of Hormuz.
The fresh wave of airstrikes across several areas of Lebanon on Tuesday, targeting positions linked to the Iran-backed group Hezbollah amid a rapidly escalating regional conflict.
The strikes hit multiple locations in southern Lebanon, including the coastal city of Tyre, shortly after the Israeli military issued warnings urging residents in the area to evacuate and move at least 300 metres away from potential targets.
Lebanese media and officials reported that Israeli warplanes also attacked towns such as Qabrikha, Deir Siryan and Taybeh in the south. Additional strikes were recorded in eastern areas, as well as in the Bekaa Valley, where bombardments targeted several villages overnight.
In the southern town of Harouf, at least four people were reported injured following an air raid, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
The Israeli military said the attacks were aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure, including what it described as a command centre in the town of Ansariyeh from which rockets had allegedly been launched towards Israel.
The escalation also reached the southern suburbs of Beirut, commonly known as Dahiyeh, a densely populated area considered a stronghold of Hezbollah. Israeli forces issued evacuation warnings to residents in several neighbourhoods before carrying out air raids in the area.
Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke rising over parts of the capital following the bombardment.
Israel’s Arabic-language military spokesperson later issued another urgent warning to residents in parts of southern Lebanon, including Arnon, Yahmar and nearby villages, urging them to leave immediately and move north of Nabatieh.
The latest attacks come amid intensifying hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which have spread across Lebanon in recent days. The confrontation has unfolded alongside the broader conflict involving Israel, the United States and Iran, further raising fears of a wider regional war.
Clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters have continued along the Lebanon–Israel border, with both sides accusing each other of escalating the conflict.
The renewed bombardment has added to growing concerns about civilian safety and displacement in Lebanon, where fighting has already forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes in recent days.
