Detectives are investigating an incident in which a cyclist collapsed and died along the Kisii–Ogembo highway.
The incident happened near Itumbe as three cyclists were racing from Ogembo towards Kisii Town.
Police identified the deceased as Meshak Eyanai, 21, a student at Kisii National Polytechnic.
He collapsed and died by the roadside on Saturday as they cycled for fun, officials said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Ahero, Kisumu County, a man was found dead in his house.
Police said the body of William Omondi Ogeo, 35, had decomposed when it was discovered and was later moved to the mortuary.
Neighbours had complained of a bad smell coming from the house, prompting them to check the source. The cause of death was not immediately known.
In Suna, Migori County, the decomposed body of Oketch Juma, 49, was found lying on his bed in his house after a sudden death.
Police said they were yet to establish the cause of death of the man, who lived alone.
Neighbours said they had not seen him for more than a week before his body was found in the house and moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Wanguru, Kirinyaga County, the body of an unknown man was found by the roadside.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.
In Nyatieko, Kisii County, the body of Gilbert Bundi, 25, was found in a compound in a suspected murder.
The motive for the murder was not immediately known, police said, as they moved the body to the mortuary pending further procedures.
Meanwhile, police in Makueni County are investigating a drowning incident after the body of a man who had been reported missing was discovered in a river in Mbooni West Sub-county.
Police said Joseph Mutuku Kioko, 36, had gone missing on March 7 while returning home from his workplace.
Two days later, on the morning of March 9, the body of the deceased was found stuck along the banks of the Siuni River in Kamua Iiani sub-location within Tulimani Location.
Relatives who arrived at the scene positively identified the body as that of Joseph Mutuku Kioko.
Police officers from the National Police Service visited the scene and supervised the retrieval of the body from the river and its transfer to the mortuary pending further procedures.
