The 17-year-old Mohammed Bashir of Visa Dolphins Swim Club said their preparations include both pool and dry-land training. “We are doing a combination of exercise drills, including dry-land exercises for body conditioning and breathing techniques. We train two sessions per day, morning and evening, four days a week,” said Bashir.
He added that his ambition this season is to dominate his age category and win at the Kiambu County Aquatics Association Awards Gala set for June 2026. Meanwhile, Nesmas W. Mbati, Public Relations Officer of the Kiambu County Aquatics Association, said the season’s top teams will receive cash awards.
The winning team will pocket Sh50,000, with the runners-up earning Sh30,000 and the third-placed team receiving Sh20,000 courtesy of Genesis Sports Limited, the official sponsor of the awards ceremony.
Mbati noted that Genesis Sports Limited will also continue sponsoring individual trophies for the best swimmers of the year in their respective categories, a programme the company has supported for the past five years. The cash awards for league winners form part of a new sponsorship deal signed for the current season, which began in August 2025 and will run until July 2026.
