Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke is representing Kenya at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona.
Global leaders and technology innovators are exploring the future of digital ecosystems, including Agentic Artificial Intelligence and 6G-ready infrastructure.
During the engagements, the PS toured technology exhibitions and inspected the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), a next-generation railway communications platform designed to replace legacy systems with 5G-enabled capabilities.
The system enables real-time communication between trains and railway control centres, enhancing operational safety, reliability and efficiency across modern rail networks.
Isaboke noted that adoption of advanced communication technologies will strengthen transport systems and support the development of integrated digital logistics corridors.
Kenya’s participation aligns with the government’s Digital Superhighway initiative, which seeks to expand connectivity infrastructure, digital services and innovation ecosystems to accelerate the country’s transition to a knowledge-based digital economy.
The delegation included officials from the Communications Authority of Kenya, led by Board Chair Charles Karondo, and Adam Lane, Deputy CEO for Government Affairs at Huawei Kenya.
