Speaking after the opening leg of the 2026 season at the Jamhuri MX Grounds, Ngugi challenged female riders to take the plunge.

“We want to see more young girls take up motocross and believe that this sport is for them too,” she said, adding that EAMSC is committed to creating an environment where female riders can train, compete, and excel on equal footing with their male counterparts.
The season roared into action with the MX1 Season Opener, drawing about 50 riders to tackle the demanding Jamhuri circuit, navigating technical corners, punishing jumps, and rough terrain in pursuit of early points in the provisional EAMSC MX Championship standings.

Riders competed across multiple classes, including MX50, MX50 Junior, MX65, MX85, MX125, MX Vets/Masters, and the premier MX1 category.
Standout performances included Dimitar Krachev and Ethan Anyonyi in the MX50 categories, Thang’a Kihungi in MX65, Armani Amani in MX85, Peter Mutua in MX Vets, and Shivam Vinayak in MX1.
EAMSC Vice Chairman Daniel Muriithi echoed Ngugi’s vision, emphasising the club’s commitment to grassroots development and raising competition standards.
“This season we are focused on expanding participation, improving competition standards, and creating a strong platform for young riders to develop their skills in a safe and competitive environment,” he said.
As the championship progresses, Ngugi hopes her push for female inclusion will inspire more girls to join the sport, helping motocross grow into a truly gender-inclusive discipline while nurturing the next generation of riders.
