Two public universities have unveiled a broad array of vacancies spanning academic, ICT, finance, health sciences and support services, with application deadlines set for March 20, 2026 and March 24, 2026.

South Eastern Kenya University openings

South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) has advertised several positions under its Division of Corporate Services and the Division of Academic, Research and Innovation.

In the Directorate of ICT, the university is seeking to recruit a Director, ICT Grade 3 (formerly Grade 15), Ref: SEKU/ADV/AC/02/02/2026, with specialisation in Medical Surgical Nursing.

Within the Division of Academic, Research and Innovation, SEKU has announced three Lecturer Grade 6A (formerly Grade 12A) vacancies.

In the Department of Nursing Sciences, School of Health Sciences, the university is hiring one lecturer under Ref: SEKU/ADV/AC/02/02/2026, specialising in Medical Surgical Nursing.

In the Department of Anthropology, Sociology and Community Development, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, one lecturer is required under Ref: SEKU/ADV/03/02/2026, specialising in Criminology and Social Justice.

Another Lecturer Grade 6A position has been advertised in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, under Ref: SEKU/ADV/AC/04/02/2026, specialising in Geotechnical/Structural Engineering.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 24, 2026.

Garissa University

Garissa University, which was established as a constituent college of Moi University before receiving its Charter in 2017, has also announced 16 vacancies across various departments.

The university is recruiting a Senior ICT Planning & Development Officer, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/1/26, on permanent and pensionable terms at Grade 13.

A Senior Library Assistant II (System Librarian), Ref: GaU/HR/EA/2/26, is also being sought on permanent and pensionable terms at Grade 8.

Two Computer Technologist III roles have been advertised: Systems Administrator/Network Administrator under Ref: GaU/HR/EA/3/26 and Software under Ref: GaU/HR/EA/4/26, both permanent and pensionable at Grade 8.

Further openings include Assistant Computer Technologist I (ICT Support & Electronics Technologist), Ref: GaU/HR/EA/5/26, permanent and pensionable at Grade 7 with two positions available; Assistant ICT Trainer, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/6/26, permanent and pensionable at Grade 10; and Graduate Assistant, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/7/26, on a one-year contract at Grade 10.

In the finance department, the university has advertised Accountant I, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/8/26, permanent and pensionable at Grade 12, and Assistant Accountant II, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/9/26, permanent and pensionable at Grade 9.

There are also three positions for Administrative Assistant/Research Assistant under Ref: GaU/HR/EA/10/26 on three-year contracts at Grade 8.

In the health and technical areas, vacancies include Clinical Instructor/Senior Nursing Officer, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/11/26, permanent and pensionable at Grade 11; Laboratory Technical Assistant I, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/15/26, on a one-year contract at Grade 6; and Nutrition & Dietetics Technologist, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/16/26, also on a one-year contract at Grade 6.

Support service roles include Cook, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/12/26, on a three-year contract at Grade 4 with two positions available; Security Guard, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/13/26, on a three-year contract at Grade 2 with three positions; and Groundsman II, Ref: GaU/HR/EA/14/26, on a three-year contract at Grade 2 with two positions.

Qualifications obtained from foreign universities must be authenticated by relevant bodies.

Garissa University does not levy any fees for job applications.
