Despite her massive success, Waimani admitted that she has never been a true fan of social media. She confessed that it was actually her children who first introduced her to the platforms.

While the internet has helped her market her work and open new doors, her personal preference lies elsewhere.

Fighting Fatigue

The decision to quit appears to be driven by exhaustion. Waimani described the heavy toll of balancing music, charity work, and content creation.

It’s something I’ve long wanted, it has been in my thoughts and I believe everything has its own time and reason. I would really like to leave the internet soon. I get very tired, she said.

The intensity of her schedule is clear. During the interview, she revealed she had only reached home at 3:30 am that morning. This constant pressure has led her to pray for a quiet exit from the digital world.

Life Before the "Whistle"

Many fans may not realise that Waimani’s career started long before her TikTok fame. She began her journey as a gospel singer in 2012.

By 2016, she had already recorded a full album consisting of six songs with a producer in Uganda.

However, her music career faced challenges. When she first tried to promote herself as a singer, the online community was not always supportive.

Some users even told her to try things other than singing. This led her to go quiet for a while before finding a new niche in content creation.

A Heart for Mathare

Even as she plans her exit, Waimani remains committed to her charity work. She grew up in Mathare Mabatini and feels a deep connection to the area.

Currently, she is organising a significant feeding programme. Her goal is to support 100 households in Mathare who are struggling with hunger and poor living conditions.

While she may be leaving the "mbinja" videos behind, Waimani hopes to be remembered for the impact she made. Whether through her Kikuyu gospel songs or her work in the slums, she wants her legacy to be one of helping others.
