A woman died after she was reportedly assaulted by her brothers-in-law following a domestic dispute in Teso South Sub-County, Busia County.

The woman, identified as Ann, passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital in the region.

Police officers visited the hospital to follow up on the report. Preliminary investigations indicate that Ann may have sustained injuries during an incident involving her brothers-in-law.

According to police, the deceased had earlier been involved in an argument with her mother-in-law.

The cause of the disagreement is not yet clear. During the incident, the two reportedly threw stones at each other.

Authorities said that after learning of the dispute, the two brothers-in-law reportedly became involved in the altercation, leaving Ann with injuries that led to her hospitalisation and subsequent death.

Police have launched investigations into the matter and are seeking the two individuals, who remain at large.

Her body was moved to Alupe Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as inquiries continue.

Elsewhere, in Kogola village, Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, an 85-year-old man, Clement Kotonga, was found dead under circumstances police are investigating.

Police said the incident may have involved the victim’s son-in-law following an argument.

The body was discovered at the entrance of the man’s house several hours after the incident. The son-in-law reportedly left the scene as the body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.

Police said they were looking for the individual for questioning in connection with the incident, which occurred on February 24, 2026.

Incidents of this nature have reportedly been on the rise and have been linked to domestic disputes, land matters, and interpersonal conflicts. Police say the cases are under investigation, and some individuals have so far been arrested.
