Police are hunting for a gang that raided a restaurant and killed an employee in a robbery in Holo, Kisumu county.
The gang also robbed alcoholic drinks from the premises in the attack on February 23 morning, police said.
The deceased, identified as Edwin Kosgei, was a receptionist at the joint where the attack happened.
Three other employees, including security guards, were injured in the attack, police and witnesses said, adding that five men armed with pangas and other crude weapons staged the incident.
Police arrived at the scene and established that the gang had escaped with alcoholic drinks.
Police said they were looking for the gang behind the attack and that the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Detectives visited the scene and announced they were pursuing the gang, with pressure on the police to address the rising trend of crime in the area, which has left many injured and others dead.
Three other murder incidents were reported to police, and they remain under probe, officials said.
In Magenche, Kisii county, a man identified as James Otwoni, 45, was found dead on a piece of land after suspected murder.
The body had visible injuries, and the victim is suspected to have been killed elsewhere before the body was dumped in the area.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
No arrest had been made by Tuesday, police said, adding investigations were ongoing.
In Nguutani, Kitui county, a 32-year-old woman was found murdered in a rental house.
Police identified her as Carol Mueni, adding she had visible multiple stab wounds on the left side of the chest, stomach and forehead.
The immediate neighbours in the plot claimed that they heard the deceased screaming for help on Monday morning, and while responding, they saw the suspect in the murder leaving the house hurriedly.
The deceased is known to be the suspect's girlfriend. The suspect's house was visited, and he was not found, police said as they announced a hunt for him.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police say up to eight murder incidents are reported daily in the country, in a worrying trend.
The incidents remain under active investigations
and some are yet to be solved.
Separate teams are rushing to solve the incidents.
