Two miners drowned in a tunnel they were digging on Saturday in Awendo, Migori county.

The deaths are reportedly as a result of heavy rains, which filled the hole they were working on, police said.

David Odhiambo, 35, and Victor Otieno, 37, were inside a tunnel when the rains started.

Unfortunately, floodwaters drained into the hole and drowned them.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
