Fatal electrocution cases have been on the rise in the country, with most of them being blamed on poor wiring and the use of quacks for the same.

In Kiganjo, Kiambu county, the body of one Henry Kariuki Ndungu, 52, was found lying in prone position at the gate of their home, with multiple visible injuries on his forehead and neck inflicted with a sharp object.

It was established that the deceased, who was a casual labourer and a resident of Gatwekira, left home on February 20 for work and was last seen refreshing with friends at Kibichoi trading centre.

His body was discovered the following days and the motive behind his murder was yet to be established, police said as they moved it to the mortuary for autopsy.

Elsewhere in Kakamega, one Patrick Ayuma, 50 succumbed to his injuries in hospital after he had been assaulted.

The deceased had injuries in the forehead. Police said they recovered a stone that was used in the attack and efforts to trace and arrest the assailants continued Sunday.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Obunga, Kisumu County, a suspect was stoned to death over claims of snatching a mobile phone from pedestrians. The body was moved to the mortuary, police said, adding he was yet to be identified.

In Mamboleo, Kisumu County, one Griffins Okumu, 20, who was a student at Riat College, was stoned to death over claims he had stolen a mobile phone. Police said they are investigating the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as police hunt for the mob that fatally assaulted him.

Elsewhere in Dabel, Moyale, Marsabit County, two suspects were arrested, and a pistol was recovered from them in the Hilo area.

The suspects were found with a Star pisto,l which had two rounds of ammunition. Police said one of the suspects was an Ethiopian.

The two were taken for grilling pending ballistic tests on the weapon.

The route is seen as one of those used for gun smuggling and has prompted police operations at large to tame the practice.
