Deputy President Kithure Kindiki / HANDOUTDeputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged the political class to tone down escalating rhetoric, expressing confidence in his camp’s strategy ahead of the upcoming by-elections scheduled for Thursday.
Kindiki said there was no cause for alarm, maintaining that his side remains firmly in control of its political direction.
“I want to ask all of us, especially the political class, to tone down the fierce political heat that is being generated by the ongoing debate. There is no need to worry. We are the masters of this political game,” he said.
The Deputy President projected confidence in the ruling party’s prospects, noting that his political track record speaks for itself.
He at the same time appealed to voters in areas heading to the polls to support candidates from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“At the right time, I will play our cards properly. I have no record of losing any political contest. We win always; we don’t lose because we know what to do and when to do it. I want to appeal to all the voters in the areas where we have by-elections on Thursday this week to vote for UDA candidates,” he said.
The by-elections come amid intensified political activity across the country, with parties ramping up last-minute campaigns to secure key seats.
On several occasions, Kindiki affirmed that he is fully focused on executing his constitutional mandate while supporting President William Ruto in securing a second term in the upcoming General Election.
The Deputy President dismissed speculation about his political future, stating that he remains committed to delivering on the government’s development agenda.
“I am the Deputy President. This seat is going nowhere, and when we are done with the second term, we will progress ahead in search of the higher office,” he said.
Kindiki made the remarks after attending the Induction and Installation Service of Bishop Doreen Mwathe as Bishop of Abothuguchi Synod of the Methodist Church of Kenya in Kirigara, Central Imenti.
The Deputy President described himself as a seasoned politician who understands when to engage in politics and when to focus on service delivery.
“As veteran politicians, we know when to talk, when to do politics, and when to work for the people. We will not engage in idle talk every day because we have a lot to do for the people,” he noted.
He emphasized that his current priority is to accelerate development projects and ensure the completion of ongoing initiatives to improve the lives of wananchi.
“It is about what you have done for the people because, in the end, it will be what you delivered to them,” he added.
