During the two-day championships, which concluded on Friday afternoon, Kisii School bagged the rugby 15s, basketball, hockey and handball titles.
Kereri Girls' will represent the sub-county during the County championships in handball, basketball, and hockey.
The peerless Kisii School lifted the rugby 15s title after thrashing Nyanchwa Boys 51-0 and Amasago 39-0. Nyanchwa finished second after humbling Amasago 10-0 during the games played at Kisii School.
Kisii School will host the county championships from March 3 to 6. Term One games will also feature cross-country and track-and-field events. Decathlon and heptathlon have also been reintroduced in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) calendar.
In basketball, Kisii School beat county champions Nyanchwa Boys' 85-64 in the final. Nyanchwa started strongly, storming into a 14-6 lead in the first quarter. However, Kisii recovered recovered in the second to storm to a 27-14 lead.
Kisii maintained the tempo in the third quarter by leading 15-20 and 32-21 in the fourth quarter. Both teams, however, progressed to the county championships.
In the girls’ category, Kereri Girls beat Nyanchwa Girls 64-1 and humbled Nyaura Mixed 20-2 to bag the title. In another game, Nyanchwa Girls overcame Nyaura Mixed 38-7.
In hockey, Kisii School and Kereri Girls progressed to the county championships without playing since they are the only teams with the game.
Kisii School’s Games Master Dennis Omwansa backed the institution’s teams to continue with their dominance at the county level.
“We have very strong teams. Our target is to lift at least three trophies, which are rugby 15s, handball, and basketball,” said Omwansa.
He expects Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, to give them a run for their money in rugby 15s.
