President William Ruto has sent a message of condolence to Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) member Johnson Muthama, Senator Agnes Kavindu, and their family following the death of their son, Moses Muthama.
The President acknowledged the deep pain associated with the loss of a child and urged the family to draw strength from faith and the support of loved ones during the difficult period.
He described the loss as one of the most painful experiences a parent can endure and called for compassion and solidarity with the bereaved family.
"We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Commissioner Johnson Muthama, Senator Agnes Kavindu, and the entire family and friends on the painful loss of their beloved son, Moses Muthama. There are few sorrows as profound as that of a parent losing a child; it is a burden no heart is ever prepared to carry,” Ruto said.
The Head of State paid tribute to the late Moses Muthama, offering prayers for his eternal rest and extending sympathies to relatives, friends, and all those affected by the loss.
“In this hour of grief, may you be surrounded by compassion, upheld by faith, and strengthened by the love of those who stand with you. May God grant the family comfort, peace, and courage in the difficult moment. Rest in peace, Moses.”
Moses reportedly collapsed at home on Wednesday evening and was rushed to a nearby facility, according to family and friends.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Machakos Senator, Agnes Kavindu and her family during this difficult time. I'm deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your son, Moses Muthama. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Pole sana, Mheshimiwa," Kavindu’s colleague from Kitui, Enock Wambua said.
In 2024, Machakos Governor Wanvinya Ndeti appointed him as Director in the County government in charge of administration. The county boss has since mourned him.
"I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to Machakos Senator Hon. Agnes Kavindu and her family following the untimely passing of her beloved son, Moses Muthama. The people of Machakos County stand with you in this time of profound sorrow and pray that Almighty God grants you comfort, peace, and strength to endure this immense loss. May the Lord grant Moses eternal rest and give the family the courage to bear this great loss. Our prayers are with you," Governor Ndeti said in a statement.
This is the second tragedy that the family has faced following the demise of Nduya’s sibling, Janet Njoki, who died in 2022.
