The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the release of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) certificates for candidates who sat examinations in March, July and November 2024.
In a notice issued on Thursday, KNEC said the certificates cover both Business and Technical examinations administered during the three examination series.
The council informed heads of institutions that the certificates are ready for collection at New Mithani House in Nairobi.
According to the council, individual candidates will not collect the certificates directly from KNEC. Instead, they will receive them through their respective colleges, which are required to liaise with the examination body to facilitate collection.
KNEC urged heads of institutions to take note of the procedures governing any issues arising from the certificates.
The council said all queries related to the certificates must be submitted in writing through heads of institutions. It added that institutions and candidates can also raise queries online by logging into the Query Management Information System (QMIS) portal—https://qmis.knec.ac.ke/externalLogin.
The examination body cautioned that all queries must reach KNEC within 60 days from the date of release of the certificates. Any queries submitted after June 30, 2026, will attract a fee of Sh5,000.
Requirements for queries
Any candidate raising an examination certificate query should attach the following documents:
Copies of all the module result slips, and
A copy of the certificate dispatch checklist.
The council emphasized that the timelines are firm and are intended to streamline the handling of certificate-related concerns, including corrections and verification. It encouraged institutions to promptly communicate the information to affected candidates to avoid delays or additional costs.
TVET examinations play a key role in equipping learners with practical and technical skills aligned with the needs of the labour market.
The release of the certificates is expected to enable graduates to seek employment opportunities, pursue further training, or meet professional and regulatory requirements in various sectors.
KNEC congratulated all candidates who successfully completed the examinations, noting that the certification marks an important milestone in their academic and professional journey.
The council also reiterated its commitment to improving efficiency and transparency in examination management through digital platforms such as QMIS, which allows institutions to submit and track queries online.
KNEC administers national examinations and assessments across different levels of education in Kenya, including TVET programmes. The council regularly advises institutions and candidates to adhere strictly to set procedures and timelines to ensure smooth service delivery.
