One video, taken in Cape Town shortly after their wedding anniversary, stood out as particularly meaningful.

He said Joyce had been recording him as he worked on an academic assignment, speaking encouragement and affirming that, despite the challenges they faced that year, it had been their best yet.

According to DJ Krowbar, his wife expressed confidence that he would graduate and that his education would go on to impact lives.

“She spoke into my life at a time when things were not easy,” he said, noting that shortly after returning home, he was recruited by an institution where he now teaches. He described his students as a direct answer to the words Joyce had spoken.

As he continues to navigate life after her passing, DJ Krowbar said he remains hopeful, drawing strength from his faith and his wife’s enduring legacy.

“I’m going to miss this girl. Yesterday, I didn’t even sleep; I was just going over the photos and the videos and everything. I’m going to talk about one video I came across last night. It was a video we took in Cape Town, which was just a few days after our anniversary, and Joyce was taking a video of me as I was doing my assignment,” he said.

“She was speaking a word into my life, and she was saying that the year was really tough. She was telling me it was the best year we ever had, even in the situation.”

Krowbar said while the path ahead is uncertain, he is trusting in God’s grace for his family and community in what he described as a new season.

“My students answered prayer to what was spoken. As I stand in front of my wife today, I’m going to tell my children that this is going to be our best year yet,” Krowbar said.

“I honestly don’t know how, but I’m sure it will be. I pray for God’s Grace in this new season over my family and community.”
