Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has reaffirmed the party’s continued membership in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
Sifuna also expressed support for the coalition’s newly appointed officeholders.
The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition on Tuesday announced a major reorganisation of its top leadership, aimed at revitalising the coalition and refining its political strategy ahead of upcoming national engagements.
Under the chairmanship of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, a joint session of the Azimio Council and the National Executive Committee was held on Monday, February 2, 2026.
During the meeting, several key leadership appointments were approved.
Speaking on Tuesday, Sifuna said ODM remained represented within Azimio and continued to consider the alliance its political home.
“ODM has a representation in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition. We know that we are still members of that coalition,” he said during an interview on Citizen TV.
He congratulated the coalition leadership and the newly appointed officials, noting that the coalition had remained stable following the changes.
“I congratulate the new office holders and wish them the very best. They can count on the support of ODM Party as long as we remain members of the Azimio Coalition,” he added.
Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition brings together several political parties and leaders under a broad alliance.
In the recent appointments, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was named Party Leader of the coalition, while Suba MP Caroli Omondi was appointed Secretary General. Former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia was named Executive Director.
The coalition said the changes were prompted by evolving political circumstances and were intended to strengthen internal coordination and leadership effectiveness.
“These changes are part of a deliberate effort to reposition and revitalise the coalition,” Azimio said in a statement. “The goal is to foster greater cohesion, effectiveness and unity as the coalition advances its agenda for the nation.”
The meeting, chaired by Uhuru in his role as chairman of the Azimio Council, brought together senior coalition leaders to review the organisation’s structure, political environment, and long-term strategy.
The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive and forward-looking governance, saying the restructuring is intended to better serve Kenyans and respond to national challenges.
