Corridors
A group of legislators who recently met a certain senior leader reportedly “saw very bad things” at the office. The members had reportedly gone to brief their leader of development projects in the region as well as the political situation. While they had a good report, their alleged gatekeeping on the politicians they had poached didn’t settle in with the boss. Secondly, kind of mobilisation they did the last time the leader was there was allegedly poorly done, leaving the principal embarrassed. So annoyed was he that they meeting didn’t even conclude by the time they were asked to go and have lunch.

Lately, there has been some sustained criticism and complaint that a particular sector of within government has become a dumping ground for political rejects. This has reportedly demoralised some civil servants. Corridors has learnt of discontent over a recent appointee, who instead of focusing on the job, has allegedly prioritized 2027. This has been worsened by the realization that a competitor for the top job might be endorsed by regional “kingpin”  given they are already on the ground. Colleagues in the docket are calling on the appointee, to resign and focus on the campaign.

 As they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch — and one legislator is discovering that the hard way. The political support he received at a desperate moment, it turns out, came with strings attached. Not financial ones, but obligations that are proving just as costly. He is now reportedly under instruction to defend the party line at every opportunity, from press forums to roadside rallies. On top of that, he has been assigned to trail a senior party figure and back their engagements, leaving him little time — or space — to actually do the job he was elected to do.

Leaders drawn from a certain populous region are counting losses after mobilising in anticipation of a visit by a senior leader only for him to skip the meeting. The engagement, which was to be held at one of the popular schools, reportedly offered local politicians an opportunity to flex and appease their party leader. However, without giving a hint or reasons, the top leader skipped the meeting to attend other engagements. They couldn’t, however, fail to pay those they had mobilised lest they created more trouble for themselves.
