She died at Kenyatta National Hospital after her health deteriorated in the weeks prior. Betty leaves behind two children, Sky Victor and Danivictor, from her previous marriage to Pastor Victor Kanyari, as well as her husband, Tash (Hiram Gitau).

“I do not want this to become a sob story, but she was 90 percent of my life. I just miss her,” Sky said. “She supported my dancing full-time, guiding me, encouraging me to push my limits. At the time, I felt it was too much pressure, but now I realise she only wanted the best for me.”

Sky added that her mother’s passing was the reason she temporarily stepped away from dancing. However, she is ready to return, stating: “I want to do this professionally. I’m bigger, better, and progressing.”

Betty’s Vision for Sky

Before her death on November 11, 2025, Betty had shared her hopes and dreams for Sky with friends. She wanted her daughter to experience opportunities beyond Kenya and grow into a global citizen.

Sarah Mtalii, a close friend of Betty’s, revealed: “Betty was determined for Sky to have experiences like summer programs at Cambridge and Harvard. She constantly thought about giving her children more than she had.”

Even in casual conversations about family vacations, Betty’s focus often returned to Sky’s education and personal growth. “She was passionate about learning, growth, and giving Sky every opportunity to thrive,” Sarah said.

Honouring a Legacy

Betty Bayo’s influence continues through the values she instilled in her children: faith, resilience, and love. Sarah Mtalii has pledged to continue supporting Sky in achieving the dreams her mother had for her.

“She stood by me, especially during my hard times last year. We had dreams to tour the world and invest together. Though God called her home, I pray the hopes she had for Sky will come true,” Sarah added.

Through Sky’s reflections and the support of friends, Betty Bayo’s legacy lives on—not just in her music, but in the life lessons and ambitions she passed on to her children.
