Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has marked the fourth anniversary of her father’s death, remembering him as a deeply loved patriarch and expressing gratitude for a memorial service held in his honour at the Greek Orthodox Seminary.
In a statement on Thursday, Passaris said she was unable to travel to Mombasa to be with her family but found comfort in attending the service in Nairobi, describing it as a moment of deep reflection and spiritual grace.
“Yesterday, we marked the fourth anniversary of my father’s passing, my father, aka Papou Eleftherios Passaris,” she said.
“Although I could not travel to Mombasa to be with family, I was deeply blessed to attend a memorial service held for him at the Greek Orthodox Seminary.”
Passaris said the service was profoundly moving, noting that the sacred music and prayers created a powerful atmosphere of stillness and remembrance.
“The service was profoundly moving. The sacred music, the melodies of the seminary fathers, and the depth of prayer created a moment of stillness and grace that words can scarcely capture,” she said.
“It was beautiful to simply stand in prayer and entrust my father’s soul to God.”
She paid special tribute to Archbishop Makarios, thanking him for his long-standing support to her father and family.
“I am deeply grateful to Archbishop Makarios, who knew my father for many years and faithfully walked with him through his illness until he was laid to rest,” Passaris said.
“Having His Eminence offer the memorial prayers yesterday was a true blessing and meant more to our family than I can express.”
In an emotional message to her late father, Passaris concluded with a prayer for his eternal rest.
“Papou, may your soul rest where there is no pain, sorrow, or sighing, but life everlasting,” she said. “You are remembered. You are loved.'
