President William Ruto met Uhuru Kenyatta's brother Muhoho on Wednesday at State House.
Muhoho was among the guests present during the Presidential Gold Awards Presentation event, which Ruto presided over.
He attended the event in his capacity as a representative of the International Council of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
In his remarks, Ruto paused to acknowledge Muhoho’s presence, drawing attention from other guests. “I am happy my friend, the representative, is in our midst, Muhoho Kenyatta,” he said with a smile.
The brief recognition sparked interest among observers, given the complicated political history between the President and the former First Family.
A total of 1,252 awardees who have demonstrated sustained resilience, commitment and leadership, qualifying for the Gold prize were awarded.
The President’s Award-Kenya is the leading youth achievement award, equipping young people for life.
The Award Scheme is a leading structured (non-formal education) youth development program, empowering all young people aged 14-24 to explore their full potential and find their true purpose, passion and place in the world, regardless of their location or circumstance.
The Award Scheme is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations.
The Award is comprised of three levels and four sections.
Participants complete all four Sections at each level in order to achieve either their Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. At Gold level, participants also complete a Residential Project.
For nearly six decades, the President's Award Kenya has remained a powerful platform for shaping young people of character and purpose.
Since 1966, the programme has produced over 500,000 Gold Awardees who continue to make meaningful contributions across all sectors of society.
