
Police have launched investigations after a human skeleton was found dumped at a swamp in Nyakumu, in Rurii Dam, Kikuyu, Kiambu county.
The killing allegedly took place somewhere else and the body dumped in Rurii. It was not immediately identified, police said.
Police said it is the residents who spotted the skeleton and alerted them.
The skeleton was moved to the mortuary pending identification, postmortem and other procedures.
In Kiamachimbi, Mathira, Nyeri county, the body of a woman was found floating on Karogoto River.
Police said the body was half naked when a local farmer found it on January 19.
It had a deep cut on the right side of the eye. Police moved it to the mortuary for identification and postmortem.
Meanwhile, a gang raided a construction site and killed a guard on duty in Nairobi’s Lavington area.
Police identified the deceased as Laban Masongele, 56.
The motive of the Sunday incident was not immediately known as nothing was stolen from the site.
Two guards were on duty at the scene when two men knocked the door and forced their way in while armed with crude weapons.
They then attacked the deceased and floored him as his female colleague tried to escape the scene.
The survivor said the two were joined by three other men who tied her hands and legs before locking her in a room.
They then clobbered the man to death before escaping the scene.
Police said the deceased had visible injuries in the neck. The body was moved to the mortuary.
A team of detectives revisited the scene on Monday as part of their probe into the attack.
Elsewhere in Dudi, Kakamega county, a body was found on the banks of Mumulakha stream.
The man’s left arm had its skin peeled off when the body was found on Monday, police said.
Police suspect the man was killed and dumped in the stream but the motive is yet to be established.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an postmortem and other procedures.
Police are investigating an incident where a 17-year-old boy drowned in Kahuro, Murang’a county.
The boy was a Form 3 student at Weithaga Day Mixed School.
His body was found floating in the river while his clothes were recovered along the riverbank.
It is highly suspected that the deceased drowned while swimming.
The body has been moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.
