The suspect arrested over murder of a nephew in Samburu/DCI




Police in Samburu County have arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of killing his 16-year-old nephew in a violent domestic incident in Tuum Location, Samburu North Subcounty.

Law enforcement officers from Baragoi Police Station arrested the suspect alleged to have brutally killed the teenager.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred shortly after the two had shared an evening meal at their home.

What reportedly began as a domestic disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the death of the minor.

Officers who responded to the scene found the body lying lifeless in a pool of blood, an indication of the severity of the attack.

During investigations at the scene, police recovered a blood-stained Somali sword believed to have been used in the killing.

The weapon was secured as an exhibit to aid ongoing investigations.

The body of the deceased was later transported to Baragoi Subcounty Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Following the incident, police launched a swift and coordinated manhunt to trace the suspect.

Officers tracked the suspect to his hideout, where he was arrested.

According to investigators, the suspect was found attempting to wash blood-stained clothes in an effort to destroy evidence linking him to the crime.

Police said the arrest was the result of meticulous pursuit by officers involved in the operation. The suspect is currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.

Authorities confirmed that he is undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
