Police said one Selton Oluoch had ventured into the septic tank after his mobile phone accidentally slipped in there.
The man had gone into the septic tank while trying to get the mobile phone, prompting witnesses to raise an alarm.
Two other residents who jumped in to rescue him also suffocated. They were, however, rescued and rushed to the hospital following the incident at Kogongu village on Monday.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, while the injured were admitted in hospital in a stable condition, police said. The mission ended at that point.
Meanwhile, police in Majengo slums, Nairobi are investigating the murder of a 33-year-old man in an altercation.
The deceased was identified as Francis Mwangi, police said.
He had been engaged in an altercation with two people and he sustained fatal injuries in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries on Saturday, January 10, police said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and search for the said assailants, police said.
Elsewhere in Umoja One Innercore, Nairobi, a 30-year-old man was found dead in his house.
The man had taken a nap on his bed but failed to wake up as planned.
This forced his family to go check on him when they found him dead.
His body was found lying unresponsive with saliva oozing from his mouth and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.
And a 32-year-old man was found dead in a pit latrine after a suspected murder in Mirangine area, Nyandarua County.
Police suspect Simon Mutitu was killed and his body abandoned in the toilet on January 9. His house had been locked with a padlock from outside when his brother went to check on him.
He later traced his body to the toilet, which is a few meters away from his house. The body was in a sitting position with his trouser down and half naked.
Police said the body had multiple bruises when it was found and it indicated he was killed elsewhere and taken to the toilet.
The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in the Dadaab refugee camp, police are investigating an incident where a teacher was found dead after suspected suicide.
He was identified as Adan Hafow, 39, and was a teacher at Elyas Primary School. He had hanged himself in his house using a manilla rope. The motive of the incident was not known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Dandora, Nairobi County, a man was stoned to death in a failed housebreaking incident. His two suspected accomplices managed to escape the scene.
The suspects are said to have broken into a house and stole a radio, a six-kilo gas cylinder, two basins, and a cloth bucket. An alarm was raised, alerting locals, who responded by stoning the victim to death.

Police want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing and possible prosecution.
Mob lynching incidents have been on the rise both in urban and rural areas amid calls for action to tame the trend. Up to three cases are reported daily, police say.
