
Police are investigating murder after the body of a man who was missing was found in a tea plantation in Embaro village, Keroka, Nyamira County.
The body was decomposed at the time it was discovered on January 10, police said.
Police suspect John Kiega Nyamote, 28, was murdered and dumped in the area.
The motive of the murder was not known, and his family said they saw him last on January 4.
Police said some tissues were missing due to the decomposition of the body as it was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
No arrest had been made by Sunday as police continued with investigations into the murder of the man.
In the Muungano area, Machakos County, a special team of detectives was dispatched to pursue a gang of three that gang raped a mother and defiled her 12-year-old daughter in a robbery incident.
The gang had gained entry into the compound in the Myland area when they turned violent and tied the husband’s hands and legs.
They then turned on the woman, aged 4,5 and her 12-year-old girl, attacking them mercilessly.
Police said they were sexually abused and later taken to the hospital and admitted in stable condition.
The gang stole the victims’ mobile phones and Sh2,500.
Police said they are hunting for the gang. Such incidents have been on the rise in the area amid calls for action to arrest those behind them.
In Dandora, Nairobi County, a man was stoned to death in a failed housebreaking incident. His two suspected accomplices managed to escape the scene.
The suspects are said to have broken into a house and stole a radio, a six-kilo gas cylinder, two basins and a cloth bucket.
An alarm was raised, alerting locals who responded by stoning the victim to death.
Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy as they warned against mob lynching.
Police want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing and possible prosecution.
Mob lynching incidents have been on the rise both in urban and rural areas amid calls for action to tame the trend. Up to three cases are reported daily, police say.
Elsewhere in Dadaab refugee camp, police are investigating an incident where a teacher was found dead after a suspected suicide.
He was identified as Adan Hafow, 39 and was a teacher at Elyas Primary School. He had hanged himself in his house using a manila rope.
The motive of the incident was not known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
