Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Saturday participated in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections in Tharaka Nithi County, where he cast his ballot at Irunduni Primary School.

The elections, held simultaneously in 20 counties, are aimed at selecting 20 party officials for each polling centre.

The exercise took place in Kakamega, Vihiga, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Baringo, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Samburu, Laikipia, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Murang’a and Kiambu.

The grassroots vote is the first phase of a broader internal party electoral process.
Over the next three months, the UDA will conduct further elections to identify Ward, Constituency and County officials, culminating in the selection of national office bearers in April 2026.

Kindiki praised the exercise as a demonstration of internal party democracy and a boost to Kenya’s democratic culture.
He said the party’s elections reaffirm UDA’s status as a pace setter in transparent political organisation, with officials being chosen directly by members at the grassroots.
