Deputy President Kithure Kindiki chairs Cabinet Committee
meetings on Governance, Social Sector and Public Administration and Finance,
Infrastructure, Land and Economic Production on January 7, 2026/DPCS
Two Cabinet committees chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday met in Karen, Nairobi, to review priority State programmes, government projects and key policy interventions earmarked for implementation in 2026.
In a statement issued after the meetings, the Cabinet Committee on Governance, Social Sector and Public Administration said it assessed the status of flagship government initiatives across multiple sectors, with a focus on strengthening service delivery and policy coordination in the year ahead.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the Attorney General and Cabinet Secretaries drawn from Defence, the National Treasury, Tourism and Wildlife, Education, Labour and Social Protection, Public Service and Human Capital Development, Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, East African Community Affairs, ASALs and Regional Development, Water, and ICT and the Digital Economy.

Later in the day, the Cabinet Committee on Finance, Infrastructure, Land and Economic Production convened to deliberate on priority legislative proposals aimed at accelerating service delivery across key economic sectors.
The committee also made additional inputs into the proposed National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund, initiatives expected to play a central role in financing development projects.
The second meeting was attended by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the Attorney General and Cabinet Secretaries responsible for the National Treasury, Energy, Tourism and Wildlife, Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, Investment, Trade and Industry, and Gender, Culture and Children Services.
