A 40-year-old man died after being electrocuted while pruning trees in Lake View, Naivasha.

According to police, Francis Mwangi had been hired to prune trees along Makutano Road when he accidentally came into contact with live electrical cables.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Kenya Power and Lighting officials, along with police, attended to the incident and later moved the body to the mortuary pending further procedures.

In a separate incident in Kisumu County, a 74-year-old woman, Risper Ochola, was electrocuted while hanging wet clothes on a metallic line at her home in Ragumo.

Police said the line was connected to the roof of her house, which was in close proximity to live electrical cables.

Authorities are investigating whether the home’s electrical connections met safety standards.

Kenya Power and Lighting has previously noted that illegal or unsafe electrical connections contribute to many electrocution incidents, particularly in informal settlements and rural areas.

Investigations into these recent incidents are ongoing.
